About Talking Hands Ministry to the Deaf
Our Mission
Talking Hands exists to love, serve and empower the Deaf into being a part of God’s Kingdom on earth.
Our Vision
Talking Hands imagines the day when many Christian Deaf leaders are scattered throughout the Western Cape, South Africa and Africa, living out our mission.
How Talking Hands Started
My name is Lisa. I am the Founder and Director of Talking Hands ministry to the Deaf. I am hearing and taught in schools to children for nine years. Most of my teaching years were spent with special needs children. My last three years of teaching involved teaching profoundly Deaf children in South African Sign Language at Mary Kihn School in Cape Town, South Africa.
My teaching experience, short-term mission trips to a school for the Deaf and Blind in Namibia, Deaf friends, Agnes and Richard, and hearing pastors Colin and Johan, all lead to me being called by God to minister to the Deaf. God has given me a deep joy and immense love for the Deaf.
Both photos are from Namibian mission trips to the Deaf at a school there.
